Get to know other solo members of the Lea Valley u3a at our newly re-formed group . This group was originally the MOTO (members on their own) group, and then "Solos Lunch Club" (July 2025). Coral then revamped the name and extended the activities of this group in September 2025, to "Solos Adventure Club.”
The idea is to make new friends through meeting regularly. It is hoped that we can plan visits to the theatre, museums, restaurants and have enjoyable adventures together.

Sunday 9th August
Our next Sunday lunch will be at The Hertfordshire Sunday Carvery on at 1pm. We can choose from the Sunday Roast cart of 2 or 3 meats complete with a choice of about 5 delicious side vegetable dishes plus Yorkshire pudding priced at £18.95 or from the main a la carte menu, as previously. They require £10 deposit per person. If you plan to join us, please pay your £10 deposits to Tim Robinson, the Treasurer of LVu3a as previously. Please confirm your booking to me too so I know who is joining us.

Our next informal lunch will be at The Glass Lounge in Hoddesdon on Tuesday 11th August at 1pm. Friday 21st August
80’s Disco Cruise with buffet. Celebrate Summer with dancing, dining and disco on a 3 hour river cruise in Henley on Thames. Coach journey to Henley only takes 1 hour. The boat has 2 decks so shelter available from sun or rain!! £90. Special price for us £80
Sunday 30th August
I have also booked Mantos Turkish Restaurant in the High Road, Wormley for Sunday 30th August (August bank holiday weekend). This is back by popular demand following our previous visit. As enjoyed last time, we can choose from:-
- Roast Sirloin of Beef served with roast potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding £20.95
- As above but Roast Chicken £18.95
- As above but Roast Lamb £19.95
- Mantos Royal Roast Sirloin of Beef, Roast Chicken and Roast Lamb with all the above trimmings £25.95
- Vegetarian Roast £15.95
- Or otherwise from the a la Carte menu which includes the popular Sea Bass fillets

Wednesday 23rd September
Hungerford, Reading, Berkshire
We can lunch in Hungerford and then a horse drawn canal trip with cream tea served to us on the Avon canal. £70. Special price for us £60 (lunch not included)
Sunday 4th October
Symphonic Rock at The Royal Albert Hall is booked.Hits from Motown. Sharon, Vikki, Kim and I are booked to go.

Sunday 25th October
Sunday lunch at Brixton Prison. Award winning 3 course lunch cooked and served by the prisoners! Then additional bonus, visiting Battersea Power Station for shopping/tea. (Possibility to book lift to the top of the tower and also visit the museum at an extra cost). £90 including fabulous lunch.
Saturday 31st October
The visit and lunch date to the Cotswold villages has now changed. The new date is Saturday 31st October which is probably for the best as the weather should be much pleasanter. £42. There will be another opportunity to do this trip in May 2027.

Tuesday 1st December
Chatsworth Christmas Market and light spectacular including visiting the beautifully decorated Chatsworth House. I did this trip last Christmas, and the interior Christmas took my breath away, so beautiful. Really recommend this. £80
