Get to know other solo members of the Lea Valley u3a at our newly re-formed group . This group was originally the MOTO (members on their own) group, and then "Solos Lunch Club" (July 2025). Coral then revamped the name and extended the activities of this group in September 2025, to "Solos Adventure Club.”
The idea is to make new friends through meeting regularly. It is hoped that we can plan visits to the theatre, museums, restaurants and have enjoyable adventures together.

JUNE 2026 NEWS:-
You were recently asked to choose from a list of different day trips, giving your preferences. I have listed some of your choices below, including some new trips hot off the press!!
Please now email me stating which you would like to book for 2026. I will then check your replies to make sure we have 10 per trip, if possible, enabling us to have the coach collecting us from Elsie House (The Spinning Wheel) in Hoddesdon and returning us to the same point in Hoddesdon. If less than 10, I will ask for Richard to collect us and drop us back. There is of course no additional cost for this. Please note: Nobody will need to drive further than Elsie House (The Spinning Wheel).
Wednesday 1st July
Lovely Tenterden with a ride on the steam train enjoying a cream tea on the train.
Normally £80 but special price for LVu3a Solos Adventure Club of £50 including cream tea. (A real bargain!)
Wednesday 15th July
Althorp House. I have been advised this visit is quite strenuous as a lot of walking involved. £65
Friday 21st August
80’s Disco Cruise with buffet. Celebrate Summer with dancing, dining and disco on a 3 hour river cruise in Henley on Thames. Coach journey to Henley only takes 1 hour. The boat has 2 decks so shelter available from sun or rain!! £90. Special price for us £80
Wednesday 23rd September
Hungerford, Reading, Berkshire
We can lunch in Hungerford and then a horse drawn canal trip with cream tea served to us on the Avon canal. £70. Special price for us £60 (lunch not included)
Sunday 4th October
Symphonic Soul at The Royal Albert Hall. Hits from Motown played by the fantastic Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. £85 LVu3a Solos special price £80
Sunday 18th October
Cotswold Summer Village Tour with a stop inn Burford for a coffee break, approximately 3 hours in Bourton on the Water where we can enjoy Sunday lunch and then on to Stow on the Wold before the return journey home to Hoddesdon. £42 Special price £35 (excluding Coffee and Lunch).
Sunday 25th October
Sunday lunch at Brixton Prison. Award winning 3 course lunch cooked and served by the prisoners! Then additional bonus, visiting Battersea Power Station for shopping/tea. (Possibility to book lift to the top of the tower and also visit the museum at an extra cost). £90 including fabulous lunch.
Tuesday 1st December
Chatsworth Christmas Market and light spectacular including visiting the beautifully decorated Chatsworth House. I did this trip last Christmas, and the interior Christmas took my breath away, so beautiful. Really recommend this. £80
