Welcome to Lea Valley u3a.
Our main meetings are held at "The Spotlight" in Hoddesdon (formerly Broxbourne Civic Hall) every month on Monday afternoons,
Lea Valley u3a was the first to be set up in this area, in 1992, and we welcome members from Broxbourne, Hoddesdon, Nazeing and surrounding areas.
In fact, you are very welcome to join us wherever you live, and whatever your age!

The u3a movement offers learning and social activities for those not in full-time gainful employment. Skills and experiences are shared among the members and it is an excellent opportunity to meet local people in similar circumstances to your own.
Our main meetings are normally held on the second Monday of the month, but please check the latest Newsletter or this website to confirm dates which may change because of Public Holidays.
An online copy of our latest Newsletter can be accessed by clicking on "Newsletter" at the top of this page. Please note that the contact details (phone numbers, e-mail addresses etc) for Group Leaders and Committee Members are not all shown in this on-line version, as it is open to anyone with access to the internet, and we wish to protect this information. Therefore members need to refer either to the version which will be emailed to you each month by the Chair, or the paper versions available to collect at main meetings, as those versions do contain contact information.
Alternatively anyone (members and non-members) can use the club's email system to make contact with us - please click on the "Contact us" link above which will open a form where you can message us, or email us in the conventional way at:
For our main monthly meetings members are invited to arrive from 1.00pm onwards to visit group tables and have a drink and a light snack if they wish. The main meeting will start at 1:45 with announcements from our Chair, followed by our speaker for the day, the subject of our talks ranging from “Weird & Wonderful Weddings” to “Wildlife in Tanzania”, "Art on The Underground" and everything else in between!
Lea Valley u3a has over 40 interest groups including Art Appreciation, Pilates, Croquet, French Boules, Exploring London, Reading for Pleasure, Walking Groups, Craft Groups, Eating Round the World and Pub Lunches, to name a few. Click on "Groups" at the top of this page for a full list. There is something on offer for everyone, both ladies and gentlemen. Depending on the number of members, some groups meet outdoors, in small halls around the area, or in private homes.
The annual membership for 2026 is £18.
You can download and print the membership form by clicking on the link below; one form is required for each person. You can either bring the form with you to a meeting, or post it to the Membership Secretary. Details are on the form.
You can also collect a form from our Membership Secretary at our monthly meeting, and complete it then.
If you wish to come and 'give us a try' you will be welcome to attend our main meeting as a 'visitor'. You will need to pay £2 (for insurance purposes), then if you later decide to join any visitor fee(s) paid will be deducted from your joining subscription.
